About me
My first adventures in art were in cartooning. I was a teacher in Japan and discovered that the ability to draw on a whiteboard was a valuable skill to have. So I got a few books and taught myself to draw cartoons. A few of these early attempts at drawing still exist:
From cartoons, I moved to drawing and painting in general. I've tried lots of different materials. These days I focus on charcoal, soft pastel, watercolor, acrylic and digital.
My goals are to create art, share that art online, and encourage others to explore their creativity.
Some quotes I like:
“Normality is a paved road: It’s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it.” - Vincent van Gogh
“To my mind, a picture should be something pleasant, cheerful, and pretty, yes pretty! There are too many unpleasant things in life as it is without creating still more of them.” - Pierre-Auguste Renoir
“Only put off until tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone” - Pablo Picasso
If you would like to follow my art adventure I have a YouTube channel with weekly videos.
